The Appeal
The 911 SC is often acknowledged as the model that officially gave new life to the classic rear-engined Porsche, which the manufacturer had until then intended to replace with the front-engined 928. The first Porsche to wear the ‘SC’ designation since the 356, it featured a larger, 3.0-litre version of the famous air-cooled ‘boxer’ engine with aluminium blocks and fuel injection, as well as thicker anti-roll bars and rear torsion bar, and a brake servo. The model’s performance, handling and usability made it highly successful.
This left-hand drive example was imported to the UK from California in 2020 and benefitted from a video-documented bare metal respray in 2021 by Amazing Autos of Wales. Finished in iconic Guards Red, it features a genuine Porsche Turbo rear spoiler and black 16-inch 'Design911' Fuchs alloy wheels with silver rims.
The seller states that in their four-and-a-half years of ownership, the car has always been stored in a garage, and that recent new parts include front brake discs and pads, clutch, front tyres, rear shock absorbers and brake master cylinder. The seller says that some USA service history is provided, with a “huge history file of invoices” provided from their period of ownership in the UK.
Inside, the black interior is largely original, with its ‘Tombstone’ leather seats showing signs of wear. Features include sunroof, electric windows and a USB charging point.
This is a very well-presented example of the iconic early ‘80s 911 that benefits from a recent full respray.
