The Appeal
In the early 90s car makers were rediscovering the coupe and few were as good as the Corrado. Based on the excellent Mk2 Golf platform, these beautifully crafted, Karmann-built cars were expensive, but well worth the investment.
What makes the supercharged G60 so good is how it extracts 160bhp from a 1.8L engine. At the time, this was revolutionary stuff - even turbo pioneer Saab could only get 175bhp from its 2L slant four. Supercharging gave the Corrado excellent low-down torque and no lag, and today it is one of the most sought-after classic Dubs.
This 1991 Green Pearl Effect metallic comes to market with a long list of recent maintenance. In 2026, the owner invested close to £3,000 with a Corrado specialist for a service, new water pump, timing belt, oil seals, engine mounts, and wheel bearings. Crucially for any G60, the supercharger was fully rebuilt by JMR in 2025. Other recent work includes a new RS back box, replacement rear wheel bearings and an ECU check. This investment builds on an earlier glass-out respray between 2016 and 2018. The rear tailgate was repainted approximately 12 months ago. Recently reconditioned B-Star 16-inch alloys sit on new Toyo tyres.
A history file accompanies the car, including MOT certificates dating back to 1995 and a service book with 10 stamps. The car comes with a lengthy MOT valid to July 2027. A great example of these hugely entertaining cars with the added bonus of a distinctive private plate.
The vendor says
“Drives really well after its trip to the specialists; supercharger pulls well.
“It’s a great car to drive, gets loads of attention wherever it goes, reminiscent of the 90s, handles really well, especially with the new engine mounts and the supercharger. Great fun to drive on the roads.”
