The Appeal

The Prado blends the luxury and durability of the Land Cruiser with the agility of the Hilux Surf, from which it borrows a chassis. These big, comfortable and hugely reliable 4x4s are well regarded, especially when fitted as here with the tough 3L 1KZ-TE turbo diesel engine.

This British Green 1997 Prado spent the first six years of its life in Japan, before arriving in the UK in 2003. It has had just three keepers since, demonstrating how these tough workhorses get under the skin. The current keeper has owned it since 2017.

With 146,000 miles showing, it is barely run in for a diesel truck of this type. We’re told that it runs and drives well and is highly original, including the JDM instruments. Recent work in 2026 includes new front callipers and a replacement battery. The current MOT runs to June 2027 with advisories to note.
