The Appeal
The Lotus 49 is one of the most significant Formula One cars ever built. Debuting in 1967, it pioneered the use of the engine as a stressed chassis member in combination with a monocoque structure, an arrangement that remains the standard F1 architecture to this day. Across its racing career from 1967 to 1970, the Lotus 49 amassed 12 wins, 23 podium finishes, 19 pole positions, and secured two Constructors' and two Drivers' Championships.
This one-off racing simulator, hand-built in 2018, captures the spirit of that legendary machine in a faithfully recreated 1:1 scale front three-quarter replica. It served as a demonstrator at high-profile motorsport events, and the attention to detail is evident throughout, from the correct livery and sponsorship decals to the visible rivets following the original pattern, genuine Dunlop tyres, and wrap-around aeroscreen.
The simulator hardware is well-specified, and the whole system has been recently overhauled and configured by Simbiotix Ltd, specialists in motorsport and aerospace simulation. It is offered as a simple plug-and-play package for any historic racing or Formula One enthusiast looking for a visually striking way to enjoy digital motorsport.
