The Appeal

Though it may be recognised as a member of the XJ class, Jaguar’s Daimler Double Six was exclusively sold under the Daimler name, with its 6L V12 Engine, exclusive trims and a slew of special options making for a beautifully appointed vehicle.

This example comes to us in excellent order, having spent much of its life in Japan, where roads are unsalted and this car has been cossetted. As a result, it’s in rare order and should make for a much-prized car produced under a lesser-spotted brand name.

The History and Paperwork

  • Imported to the UK in 2017
  • Purchased by current owner for a private collection in 2021
  • Car has been kept in a dry car storage unit
  • Has had a new MOT this week which it past with no advisories
  • Complete with all original manuals and Japanese service history
  • All UK import duties paid and documents included

The Interior

  • Impressive interior with Daimler-exclusive specs
  • Parchment leather seating with walnut burr veneers
  • Seats in excellent condition with no rips or tears
  • Some rubbing and light cracking to the driver’s seat bolsters
  • Extended wooden trim with picnic tables
  • Cracking in the driver’s side picnic table but appears structurally sound
  • Wood veneers otherwise in rare order with only minor scratches
  • Carpets and headlining appear to be in good order
  • Original Daimler branded over mats present in excellent condition
  • Original Jaguar instruments, cassette player and radio
  • Radio is in working order but to Japanese spec with limited FM waveband
  • Extensive options including:
  • Climate control AC
  • CD Changer
  • Electric windows
  • Adjustable seats and steering column

The Exterior

  • Charming Brooklands Green paintwork with red and yellow striping
  • Some minor scratches and scuffs to the bumpers
  • Some light pinstripe peel
  • Slight scratches around the rear plate, which have been touched in
  • Chrome and glasswork appear to be in good order with no cracks or chips
  • Exclusive design alloys with Daimler branding
  • Full set of Futurum HP tyres with plenty of tread
  • Underneath, the car is in very good order with just some light surface corrosion
  • Ultimately, the car cuts an excellent appearance

The Mechanics

  • Impressive 6.0L V12 Engine, unmodified with original covers
  • 4-speed GM 4L80-E automatic transmission
  • Comfort suspension
  • Engine bay in excellent condition with no major signs of wear
  • No reports of any mechanical faults, leaks or smoke from the engine bay
  • Original Toolkit present in engine bay compartment

Summary

An unusual piece of Jaguar-Daimler history, this rare Japanese import is a beautifully kept modern classic that’s bound to attract admiration.

The safest way to buy a classic car online

Car & Classic's secure payment system protects buyers and sellers. At the end of the auction, the winning bidder transfers payment into a third-party escrow account. Once the transfer of the vehicle is complete, both parties confirm they are happy with the sale and the money is released to the seller.
Safe, secure payment process

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000 to £100,000 £500.00
£100,000+ £1000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you’re able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
