The Appeal
Porsche's 996 911 was somewhat revolutionary at the time of its release in 2000 and initially caused some uproar with Porsche purists.
This was due to the 996 being the first 911 to make use of a water-cooled engine. Although this was a completely new engine developed for the newer 911 and Boxer models, it took many purists time to fully understand the benefits. Since the 996, Porsche haven't looked back and continued to utilise the more reliable and modern water-cooled engine format. Furthermore, the 996 received new styling and moved on from the historic circular headlights, taking inspiration from the GT1 race car.
At the time this was another big move for Porsche but clearly proved a wise one when seeing 996's still stand out on the road today. Finally, whilst having a smaller coupé interior, the 996 gives for great visibility and thus the interior feels spacious considering it's format, it really is a true drivers car which belongs on the road!

Summary
Porsche's 911 Carrera 2 (996) is a vehicle that initially split opinion when released but over time came to win the hearts of most who had the pleasure of driving one.
This example is in very good to excellent original condition overall. You may be mistaken regarding the mileage and age when inspecting the car, this is a testament to the current owner who has kept it in tip top condition. This 911 has evidently been cherished throughout its life which is backed up by the thorough service history.
With an engine rebuilt some 30,000 miles ago, this Carrera 2 still has many more left in the tank. Tastefully configured and wonderfully kept, this really is a wonderful example worth considering!
