Description

1968 Daimler 420 Saloon

I purchased this spectacular vehicle just over a year ago and have had the car with a local specialist all of that time restoring its current super condition. In excess of £10000 has been spent getting this car into the condition you see before you. This has included (but not limited to) :

Bare metal respray
All glass removed
All seals replaced on the car
New chrome bumpers and over riders
New front lower grilles and wing mirrors
Full new headlining fitted
Walnut capping’s reveneered
All chrome trim removed and re fitted with new clips
Cylinder heads removed and re painted
New cylinder head gaskets fitted
Full service

Also comes with a Jaguar heritage trust certificate

This 420 has had only 2 former keepers from new, the last owning since 2003. I purchased direct from the previous owner who was ex Jaguar management at Browns Lane. This car had been his baby for the last fifteen years and is affectionately referred to as “Daisy” . During his tenure he undertook many works including a recommission of the car when he bought it for £10000 in 2003, this included replacing all bearings, bushes, seals, water and vac pipes, new chrome wheels, radiator and a stainless steel exhaust. In addition it had also had a full restoration some 20 years before his purchase before being put into dry storage.

VSE (well known Jaguar engine rebuilders) were commissioned to rebuild the engine in 2006 (the invoice is pictured)

This car has one of the best (if not the best) history folder I have ever seen. It really has been a true labour of love not just for us but for the previous owner also.

The engine bay has been detailed including replacing all bolts where possible with chrome items.

This is one of very few cars that left the factory with air conditioning. The previous owner has changed the compressor for the car to run on more ozone friendly R134a gas. If the new owner wished to return to standard the original compressor is also supplied along with a spare chrome grille and various other spare seals, workshop manuals etc that he has collected over the years.

Only 75000 miles

Happy to answer any questions via email/ telephone about the car or for any prospective buyers to come and view the service history

The car is guided at a very sensible price considering the provenance it has and the level of investment that has gone into making this beautiful car

Export enquiries welcome

We would consider part exchange with modern or classic cars of higher or lower value.
