Description

1978 JAGUAR XJC 5. 3 LITRE V-12 COUPE

UNUSED FOR 25 YEARS. FULL RESTORATION REQUIRED.

This is the 2-door pillarless coupe, 1 of only 603 RHD & much rarer than the 6cyl versions. Sold new in the UK, but has been in Australia for the last 16 years.

ONLY 50, 651 MILES FROM NEW. Mine for 16 years & a lady owner for the previous 15 years.

I purchased the car in the UK & exported it down under. I intended to restore it, but it is now being sold due to age (mine, not the car's!)

BODYWORK: Rusty floors, Rusty doors (I have spare doors available at extra cost). Rust around petrol fillers (one replacement panel is included). Rust in sills. Rust in A & B pillars. Assume rust EVERYWHERE.
Requires a respray. Vinyl roof has perished (these days people think they look better without one). Right fuel tank was removed but they are interchangeable with sedans, which are plentiful & are obvious donors for all parts but the unique doors.

MECHANICAL: Was a running driving car when purchased 16 years ago but it has not been started since - engine is not seized & can be turned by hand.

INTERIOR: Leather seats are in reasonable condition as they have been stored out of the car for the last 16 years. Only some of the stitching has come undone. Front carpets have perished, rear carpets are fine. Headlining sagged & was removed.

I have the V5 Registration paper & it still wears it's UK plates so there should be no import duties to return the car to the UK. You have to factor in the cost of shipping & port fees at each end. I can advise on transporting the car to the port of Sydney.

SUMMARY: This is a serious restoration project but the XJC V-12's are the most valuable of the XJ range, production volume was low & few are left. The car is by far the cheapest available, to allow for the cost of shipment. THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF INQUIRY BUT YOU MUST ALLOW, IN ADDITION TO THE PRICE, SHIPPING COSTS TO THE UK WHICH WILL BE +/-2K, MEANING A TOTAL PRICE (LANDED) OF CIRCA 6000. AT THAT PRICE IT IS STILL THE CHEAPEST XJC V-12 AVAILABLE.
