1935 Bentley 3. 5 Litre Derby 4 Door 4 Light Sports Saloon with Coachwork by Park Ward. Total Engine Rebuild and Bodywork Restoration, Thousands Spent. Cream and Black with Brown Leather. Registration Number, BLX 262, Chassis Number B115CW, Engine Number B4BB, Body Number C. 783, Registered February 1935. Recent Leather Retrim work, New Headlining and Radiator.
This fabulous Derby Bentley is in perfect running order and has had much regular use, hence the dust in the photographs. The body has a lovely rakish sweeping shape and it is very practical for transporting five people. Scott-Moncrief did a superb job when restoring the paintwork, everything closes with such precision. The interior is very light and airy helped by the opening sunshine roof. The front seat leather has all been replaced, and the original body number is still in place, the woodwork is in lovely condition and the headlining has also been replaced. The semaphore indicators work, now fitted with L. E. D. flashing bulbs and a number of tools are included, The present mileage reads 16, 250 which we believe is since the body restoration, it was last M. O. T. tested at 11, 598 in 2012 and read 10, 053 in 1994. Road Taxed so okay to test drive, it is Tax and M. O. T. Exempt. The fully rebuilt by John Reynolds original 3, 500cc straight six engine starts on the button and sounds lovely aided by a recent stainless steel exhaust system, it shows very good oil pressure and cool water temperature helped by the recent new radiator. We displayed this lovely motor car on our stand at the R. R. E. C. Annual Rally at Burghley House this June and drove it to and from the event, you can see a 20 pence piece balanced on the front carburettor which was taken at Burghley with the engine running.
Many thousands of pounds have been spent by the last few owners, receipts will be included. The present owner has owned it before but sadly it now has to be sold to fund the purchase of a 4. 5 litre W. O. Bentley he is having built. It has had 5 former keepers and comes with the Flying B radiator mascot and town cap as well as the fabulous P100 headlamps and has an opening windscreen.
This Motor Car can be viewed by prior appointment at the owners house near Lincoln, with good access from the A1 Road and the London to Edinburgh Mainline Railway. It has been enthusiast owned by a member of the B. D. C. and R. R. E. C. and is kept alongside his other motor cars. We hope to drive and display this Derby at the Bentley Drivers Club Race Day at Silverstone in August.
