Almost unrepeatable this 3 year old recreation by Lynx is acknowledged to be the best, built upon an original 1969 E Type 4. 2
Only 15 were produced by Jaguar before the factory fire put paid to further being build
More recently the lost chassis numbers have been re-created by the new Jaguar Company, and each example have been sold at a cost of £1. 200. 000
I believe on 9 LHD XKSS have been produced by Lynx with ours offered showing only delivery mileage and UK registration
When built was also registered with all TUV paperwork too
The factory deliver them with 300 miles or so to bed in all components and ours now has 375 miles on the speedometer - most of which have been driven by us
She is a real flyer, as you can imagine, with the sounds of thunder under your right foot - cam shafts, carburettors, timing chains and then the most raucous exhaust note bellowing out of the side pipes
She has, of course, a complete aluminium monocoque, enclosed with hand formed aluminium body panels and as with all products from Lynx, is of the highest quality in all areas
It takes Lynx over 3. 000 hours to produce these beauties and hence they are so coveted
Finished in gloss black and complimented with burgundy hides to the Steve McQueen seat pattern too
Other touches include 16" Dunlop wheels with spinners, authentic 'D' Type instruments & switch gear (a lot don't), detachable steering wheel, Monza fuel cap, lap belts, stainless luggage carrier, removable side screens and a graguated stick to check to contents of the fuel tank - as in period
Wet weather gear is black mohair - although we have fitted the soft top, if never used on the road ..... who would?
Specified with the 4. 2 litre straight 6 engine with 3 Weber 45DCOE's she puffs out a heady 270bhp at 4. 500rpm with an amazing 302 ft/ lbs of torque at 4. 000rpm
The under bonnet detailing is authentic and true to the originals
Acceleration is swift with 60mph being reached in a tad over 5. 0 seconds and with gearing allowing over 180mph this is a very fast car indeed
The gearbox has been chosen with 5 forward speeds so cruising, should you ever wish, is acceptable if not refined
With the ability to find a real version almost non-existent this is the next closest thing - and even most enthusiasts wouldn't notice the difference
