Description
Thanks for looking at my Rover. I bought this car as a stop gap back in April when my Mondeo failed catastrophically leaving me without a car for work. I now have a more practical estate and it’s time for the Rover to go to a loving new home.
Since I’ve had the car I’ve spent a bit of money on it as I thought it was well worth it since it’s such a nice car. Top wishbones, front brake pads, fuel filter, new spark plugs, new leads, new distributor cap and leads, oil change and a new oil filter, exhaust rear and centre sections, tracking, gearbox oil change and a small amount of welding to get through it’s mot. It’s now mot’d for another year and ready to serve its new owner well.
I’ve had a number of Rover 600’s over the years and they have always proven to be dependable, comfortable and easy to live with and this one has been no exception in the time I’ve had it. It is based on the Honda Accord so no issues with reliability.
This one is a lovely example with 2 keys + fobs and the service key, a comprehensive stack of receipts and service book showing that has been very well looked after. The interior is clean and comfortable the only downsides being a slightly loose headlining and a broken coin tray. Unfortunately the aircon no longer works due to a leaky condenser (easily replaced) and the front passenger window cannot be lowered fully due to a fault regulator. All other electrics including the sunroof and remote central locking work as they should.
The exterior is very good for its age with good rear arches and fuel filler (both problem areas on the 600) the car does have various dings and scratches consistent with age. I replaced the electric aerial recently then stupidly caught it on a hedge and broke it again so this doesn’t raise fully.
Mechanically the car is quiet and refined as it should be and is comfortable and easy to drive. I have completed nearly 5000 trouble free miles in the time I’ve had it. I noticed from the history that it doesn’t appear that the cambelt has been replaced since 2012 so this should be done sooner rather than later. I have factored this into the price of the car.
Overall, a clean comfy dependable family car with plenty of life left in it. Thanks for looking
