EXTERIOR
The Type R looks great in Championship White and the matching alloy wheels really add a sense of occasion. The paintwork presents well with a uniform colour throughout and a bright finish to every panel. There are almost no stone chips at the front end to report and the headlamps are pleasingly clear free from any discolouration or moisture. A little touch-up has been applied to the offside front corner but, aside from one or two other minor blemishes, the car remains a very clean example.
INTERIOR
The supportive Recaros have worn particularly well and present with only light signs of use to the deep driver’s bolster. The seats are upholstered in dark velour with textured cloth centres and contrasting red stitching; this theme extends to the rear seats, which also appear in fine condition. Glancing across the cabin everything looks in excellent fettle; there is no wear to either the dash or switchgear, and the period Momo steering wheel is still looking fresh. Genuine Type R front and rear mats complete the look.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Integra’s low mileage of 47k is fully verified by a great service record. There are eight Japanese entries in the original maintenance booklet, plus a fresh service and all-important timing belt change have just been carried out at the current mileage. On test the Type R performs extremely well and certainly lives up to all the hype. Paired with a close ratio 5-speed ‘box, the naturally aspirated 1. 8 VTEC powerplant is a real treat for any petrol head.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory 15-inch alloys look great in their original coat of white, presenting with relatively few marks for the age. They are shod in a brand new set of Toyo Proxes tyres with absolutely no wear to speak of. Despite showing signs of little recent use the brakes still do a great job of stopping the car quickly and in a straight line.
HISTORY FILE
The Integra was first registered in February 1997. The car was supplied new in Japan and has only recently been imported into the UK by 4 Star, with all taxes paid on arrival. It is now fully UK-registered with an MOT until June 2019. The service history shows entries at the following mileages: 10k, 18k, 32k, 39k, 44k, 45k, 46k, 46k, and most recently at 47k miles in August 2018. The timing belt has also just been replaced for the new keeper’s peace of mind. The original maintenance booklet and owner’s manual accompany the car.
