The Mk2 Focus RS was launched in 2009, 6 years after production of the original Focus RS ceased. Ford employed more than 100 specialist engineers to develop this model with the aim of creating a car with the Poise, Power, Performance & Precision to rival much more exotic machinery for a fraction of the cost.
The new car used an up-rated version of the focus ST?s 2. 5-litre 20v turbo engine producing 301bhp, all of which is directed at the front wheels via the uprated Quaife helical limited slip differential and aided by Ford?s RevoKnuckle front suspension system and electronic ESP. The engine is mated to a specially developed 6 speed manual transmission with gearing set to allow the RS to hit 62mph whilst in 2nd gear whilst offering smooth and efficient high speed cruising.
The Result was Fords fastest and most powerful front wheel drive European car at the time and the car was an overnight success. Demand was such in the UK that of around 11, 000 cars built by Ford, some 4, 000 came to these shores in Right Hand Drive form.
This particular low mileage example is presented in superb condition throughout. The bodywork remains in superb condition with no major blemishes to the stunning blue paintwork. The Interior is presented in the same manor with no major signs of damage or wear as you would expect given the cars low mileage.
On the road, the car drives as expected, feeling tight and accurate with smooth power delivery throughout the rev range. The gearbox, brakes and steering all feel precise and reassuring given the 300bhp on tap from the standard, un-molested engine.
The turbo charged 2. 5 Duratec engine in these cars are renowned for their ?tunability? and cars with un-official power increases and performance modifications are commonplace. Thankfully, this example remains in standard OEM guise with the only modifications to this example being a blue silicone hose set in the engine bay and re-furbished alloy wheels finished in satin black.
