Description
Ford Sierra 2. 0 GL 1988 – Only 48, 000 km – Collection Condition
I’m selling a 1988 Ford Sierra 2. 0 GL (registered in Portugal since 1993), with just 2 owners, and a vehicle in a wonderfully rare state of preservation.
This is a completely original example, equipped with the reliable 2. 0-litre petrol engine, a 5-speed manual gearbox, hatchback body and only 49, 000 km—mileage that matches the excellent overall condition of the car.
The car is very well kept, both inside and out and mechanically. It retains the original trims, badges, pinstripe (red side stripe), paint and all the other period details, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find a Sierra in this condition.
Features:
Year: 1988
Engine: 2. 0 petrol
5-speed manual gearbox + R
49, 000 km
Power windows
Colour: Metallic Grey

A classic that continues to appreciate in value
It’s an ideal car for collectors or brand enthusiasts looking for a genuine, unmodified example.
The car can be viewed without obligation. I’m not interested in swaps or part-exchanges.
What made the Sierra special
It was one of the most revolutionary cars of the 1980s. When it was launched, its aerodynamic design was highly advanced and stood in stark contrast to the squared-off, family-car styling of the era.
Its drag coefficient was among the best in its class, giving it lower fuel consumption, less motorway noise and greater stability at high speeds.
The 2. 0 OHC Pinto engine was known for its robustness, simple mechanical design and reliability. It’s a very well-liked unit because it’s easy to maintain, and when looked after properly it can cover hundreds of thousands of kilometres.
The 5-speed manual gearbox was an important advantage at the time, allowing motorway cruising at lower revs and with more comfort.
Rear-wheel drive gave it a balanced, distinctive driving feel that’s very different from most modern family saloons.
The independent rear suspension provided above-average comfort for an 1980s family car.
The Sierra was a huge commercial success in Europe and became the basis for some of Ford’s most iconic versions, such as the XR4i, the XR4x4 and the legendary Cosworth.
Today, it’s rare to find fully original examples. Many were modified, used hard or simply disappeared
