1978 Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer
Finished in 20. B. 619 nero with VM8500 nero hide and black carpets.
41, 400 miles.
Supplied new by Maranello Concessionaires Ltd on 24th February 1978 to a Mr Chong, a wealthy Malaysian businessman residing in Berkshire, well known in Ferrari circles. The January 1978 list price of £25, 999. 74 plus delivery and RFL would not have been an issue for Mr Chong who purchased a new Ferrari every year, always in black. Needless to say this was not the only black Ferrari Boxer purchased by him. Sure enough almost exactly 1 year later Mr Chong collected his new Ferrari and this vehicle was sold to the next owner. It did infact go through a series of owners over the next few years, each presumably paying more than the last due to inflation. In 1989 it was purchased by Ferrari agents Strattons of Wilmslow who went through the car bumper to bumper and refreshed it to a councours standard. The car was then sold to the Drambuie Liquor Company where it formed part of their Glanvarigill Collection. In August of 1995 the car was purchased by a Mr Graham from Glenvarigill/ Drambuie. Whilst in Mr Grahams ownership Glenvarigill (now Ferrari main agents also owned by Drambuie Liquor Co) continued to maintain the car. Rarely finding time to actually drive his Ferrari, it spent most of its life in a Carcoon bubble protected from the elements, therefore the decision was made to sell. It was sold on 6th April 2002 by Leading Ferrari specialist Talacrest to a Mr Taylor, an airline pilot from Wales. Clearly Mr Taylor became very fond of the vehicle as he had the longest tenure of any previous owner, keeping the car for over 13 years. Since arriving here at Avantgarde the car has gone through another intensive refresh as it did in 1989. Not a full restoration as the car was far too nice and original for that, but a sympathetic refurbishment which has included a strip-down and repaint to very high standards by our trusted prize-winning body shop. The results of this highly detailed work are superb without ruining the originality of the vehicle, highlighted by the beautifully preserved interior.
One of only 101 carburettor model 512BB's produced in RHD. Finished in rare and highly desirable factory triple black. A matching numbers example with engine number, body number, gearbox number and chassis number all certified correct.
