This is a really well executed replica of the Riley MPH. Built about 30 years ago by the late Ivor Halbert, it is based on an original 44T chassis and still carries its original six cylinder 15T engine and its original registration number. Ivor, very well known in Riley and Bristol car circles, was able to faithfully copy his own original MPH, JH 9506 and was therefore able to produce a really fine replica, almost indistinguishable from the original. The only significant and visual alteration is the omission of the timber bar behind the seats, making the car much more suitable for a taller driver.
The car is lovely to drive on the road, the pre-select gearbox performing as it should and the oil pressure remaining constant across the temperature ranges.
The large diameter brakes instil great confidence and enable the driver to fully enjoy the excellent Riley handling characteristics.
The paintwork and leather interior has mellowed well with age and the car will sit well in any circumstances—the vast majority of observers will view it as one of the 12 original examples!
