An absolutely charming ‘One Hundred Pound Minor’ in ready to use condition.
Though appearing a bit ‘oily rag’ at first glance the Minor is in excellent mechanical condition and starts on the button. There is a bill on file for over £5, 000 for a thorough fettling of the car.
There are a few deviations from strict catalogue specification – notably the chrome plated radiator shell, leather interior and four speed gearbox; a very worthwhile modification in our opinion. The electrics have been updated to 12 volts too.
The dark brown leather interior is in excellent condition as are the carpets. The hood is in good order and there is also a pair of sidescreens and a full tonneau cover.
According to the V5 it has had but two owners since it was built in 1931, though we cannot swear to its accuracy.

The Minor was launched in 1928 as a belated response to the highly successful Austin Seven and initially featured a Wolseley designed ohc engine which was also used in the M Type MG. A simpler side valve version was launched in 1931 and the two seater was marketed as the Hundred Pound Minor. Though scarcer than an Austin Seven with fewer than 90, 000 of both types produced before the introduction of the highly successful ‘Eight’ in 1935, the Minor nevertheless proved to be one of the most endearing small cars ever produced.
More sophisticated than an Austin Seven, the early Minor has enjoyed a resurgence of interest of late due to its recent eligibility for VSCC events and represents a very affordable way to get into Vintage motoring.
