We are delighted to offer this truly exceptional, show standard quality Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto onto the market. FND 551F is an original RHD example that was brought over to the UK from South Africa in 2013. The Alfa arrived in exceptional structural condition with a first class bodyshell but needed light restoration and re-commissioning work. The car was in very original, good, sound condition and had clearly led a sheltered quiet life in South Africa.
The Alfa was stripped back and restored to an exceptional standard with a first class, glass finish re-paint. The underside was highly detailed, as was the engine bay and the engine unit checked, detailed and now presents in first class order. The gearbox was rebuilt, thousands of pounds worth of new parts were purchased from Alfaholics including their uprated suspension and the car fully re-commissioned as required. The interior was fully re-trimmed, a brand-new mohair hood fitted and the car re-chromed.
FND 551F has covered very little mileage since completion. The Alfa has had a few runs to the East Coast from South Yorkshire and is outstanding in every respect. The car drives superbly with its fresh rebuilt mechanicals and the engine is in superb, strong condition. The gear changes are perfect, the car is tight and handles superbly. This Alfa presents beautifully, the paintwork is outstanding, the bodywork and panel fit are excellent, chrome, wheels and tyres are excellent and the interior pristine. The engine bay is of show standard quality, as is the boot compartment and the underneath truly first class. This is a top class, beautifully presented car and is perfect for any collection, or general classic car use and long-distance touring.
