Hi
Welcome to the sale of this special car - the legendary Integra Type R.
I have just taken it in part exchange for one of my Range Rover Classics (I know unusual swap but there you go).
It's only had one UK owner and was imported through a professional and experienced specialist in 2017.
The aficionados amongst you will probably know that the 1998 car, known as the "98 Spec R"... and denoted on the special build plaque near the handbrake lever is the version to have benefiting from a different manifold, uprated brakes and larger 16" wheels.
This has to be one of the lowest mileage examples available having covered just 59, 000 miles in total. As a result it feels unbelievably fresh and fit, and drives amazingly. I cannot fault it in the slightest with how it flings itself down the road, with that manic 8, 400rpm scream filling the cabin.
We all know the Type R's are strong cars capable of handling big miles but surely you want to buy one of the freshest ones you can right?
Special note goes to the gear change in this example which feels like a rifle bolt when slotting into gear- lovely stuff!
Unlike a fair proportion of JDM imported examples this one hasn't been messed about with by someone thinking they know better than the Type R engineers. There are no daft exhaust systems, no lowered suspension, no silly air filters. It even has the factory fitted stereo system complete with fake carbon fibre trim!
In short it's exactly as Honda intended it to be!
The only change from OEM is the steering wheel which has been changed for a fresh MOMO leather wheel (with Type R red stitching) and is removable. This was the reason for the change as it effectively acts as a security measure. There is a billet aluminium key operated lock that covers the cars steering wheel boss with the wheel removed so someone cant simply bring a replacement along and fit it!
Nestled in the centre of the steering wheel is a GENUINE NSX TYPE R horn button that cost over £200 on it's own. The wheel and horn are a £750 set up so not cheap but testament to the love the UK owner has given the car.
There is even a spare, brand new "Integra Type R" emblazoned key which just needs to be cut.
The service history is full, and is of course in Japanese for those who wish to learn the lingo in their spare time but in the last week the car has undergone a full service including fuel filter and spark plugs and had a fresh MOT which it passed without a single advisory!
The service history is filed in a large ring binder with a polished plaque on the front with the car's chassis number and registration number etched into it. Lovely attention to detail.
The car presents really well with no rust at all. The arches are fabulous, the paintwork is great, there is hardly a stone chip to the front at all, the glass work is unmarked, the lights are great..... it really does look super fresh. The only think worth mentioning is that the wheels could do with a freshen up but you're looking at £50 a corner to do, so it's neither here nor there in the scheme of things. My alloy wheel chap will sort these when he gets a gap, but I will knock the cost of the work off the price if you want to drive the car away as it is now.
Tyres are matching Bridgestone's all around with lots of tread left.
The interior is equally fresh with no nicks to the dash, lovely carpets, no scratches to the trim etc. It looks like it's done half of it's (already very low) mileage. The only thing worthy of mention is the usual patina to the drivers bolster where the foam has started to go. You'll certainly be pleased with how it presents in here.
So there you go. A nice fresh, honest, well maintained and looked after example of a hero cult car in the all important '98 specification. I can't see it hanging around long.
These car's will be seriously good news soon, and a great investment to tuck away and watch it appreciate.... or enjoy it in the meantime. Either way there will never be cars like this made again so enjoy one whilst they are still affordable.
If it helps 'oil the cogs' of a deal I can potentially take your car in part exchange, but please only put forward clean cars with no stories to tell that are priced sensibly :)
Thanks for looking and feel free to get in touch.
