Finished in Carnival red with black trim this fabulous mid engine Coupe has had only 3 owners in its 46 year history and has covered only 74, 000 miles from new. Way ahead of its time this Europa has four wheel independent suspension, and a lightweight, folded and welded minimalist boxed steel backbone chassis with a fibreglass moulded body. These innovations were typical of the founder Colin Chapman whose knowledge of aeronautical engineering techniques proved vital towards achieving the major automotive advances. The vehicle has had a full restoration which started in 2012 and was completed in 2015 with a full photographic record and has covered very few miles since the restoration. The certificate of provenance confirms that this vehicle has all numbers matching, chassis, engine, reg etc from new and also confirms that the colours both outside and inside are correct from new. In addition, it confirms that the car is a UK rhd car built by Lotus in 1971 and delivered new to Foley Park Motors Lotus dealers in Kidderminster. Extras when new were brand Lotus alloy wheels and airhorns. The twin cam version is also fitted with the Lotus Ford Cortina 1557cc DOHC twin overhead camshaft engine. Weighing only 650kgs made this a very fast car then and is still fast today. The car is in excellent condition throughout.
