Description
1937 Rolls Royce Phantom 3 Barker Razor Edge Sedanca.
Chassis number: 3-CP-186
Registration number: MMN425W
Forming part of a small collection, this car has been maintained without regard to expense. Indeed it has recently had a very high quality repaint with over £35k being spent upon the car to take it back to bare metal prior to refinishing in its original clours of pale yellow & Masons black.
Coachwork is a particularly graceful sedanca by famed coachbuilders Barker & co featuring razor edged lines to the rear roof & boot area. The boot folds open revealing a large luggage area & also has provision for additional cases to be strapped to the surface of the open boot lid.
The V12 engine is in fine fettle running cool & quietly whilst starting readily & simply wafting one down the road. Some small tools are present under the drivers & passengers seats. Indicated mileage is 65, 199 as of time of writing.
The dash board is burr walnut & has the typical oval centre used by Barker on cars of this period.
To the interior is beige hide throughout of recent origin & particularly pleasant large expanses of burr walnut to the passenger compartment. An electric division glides up & down to separate the working quarters from the rear seats. Occasional tables, an occasional seat & twin foot rests are fitted to the car.
Resplendent with its full set of colour coded ace whel discs, the car presents beautifully & has huge presence on the road. A good phantom 3 in fine order really is the pinnacle of pre war Rolls Royce motoring & this is a great example of the genre.
