EXTERIOR
Finished in desirable Almond Green this little mk1 looks marvellous beneath our studio lighting. The car was treated to a full repaint some years ago but still presents really well with few imperfections to report. Looking closer, the brightwork and trim appears in great shape throughout and the lights are clear all round. A splendid and very usable example, ready to be driven and enjoyed.
INTERIOR
With complementing green upholstery the interior is a lovely place to be. The seats look great with only a couple of small nicks, and the footwell carpets appear as-new having recently been replaced. Some patina can be found to commonly worn items like the steering wheel, but certainly nothing untoward given the age of the car. For modern convenience a 12v power socket and vintage-style Bluetooth radio have been installed, with discreetly fitted speakers below the rear bench.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
This 1967 mk1 is equipped with a 998cc engine that has recently undergone a full rebuild using all stainless-steel fasteners. The cylinder head has also been converted for unleaded fuel; this work was carried out by local specialist Roe Engineering and included re-facing, new valves, guides, and seals. Following a full cosmetic refresh both the engine and engine bay appear in wonderful order with all components presenting in fine fettle. The car pulls well on test and the original “magic wand” gearbox is a joy to operate.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The Mini sits on original steels in Old English White, correctly finished with polished hubcaps in excellent condition. The front brakes boast a Cooper S disc conversion, meaning improved stopping power compared to the factory drums. The matching Falken tyres have plenty of tread remaining.
HISTORY FILE
This New Zealand-supplied Mini was first registered in November 1967. It remained in New Zealand until 2016 when it was purchased by the previous owner and imported into the UK. Since arriving in the country the Mini has been fully UK-registered, cosmetically refreshed inside and out, and mechanically re-commissioned with a complete engine overhaul and front brake upgrade. Accompanying the car is a stack of paperwork from its life in New Zealand – including the original 1967 logbook – along with a raft of UK invoices for the work carried out since.
