Beschreibung
This Ford Consul is well known to us at Craner Classics, and had only covered 43, 000 miles when we sold it to a gentleman who is also well known to us for his love of classic cars and in particular classic car shows. He kept the car for 10 years, during which time it covered just 3, 000 miles, taking its total mileage to 46, 000 - an extremely low mileage for a car produced more than 58 years ago. That's less than 800 miles for every year of its life! The car has had just three former owners all told.
VIN Chassis Number: 2042E289666
First Registered: 3. 3. 1961
The Ford Consul was pitched as an American-style sports car, hence its capable 1703cc engine, large and powerful for any mass production car in 1955. Just such a Mark 2 Consul was tested by The Motor in 1956 and reached a top speed of 79. 3mph. That engine still pulls well more than sixty years later, and the accompanying 4-speed gearbox makes a great supporting act, delivering beautifully fluid gear changes even after all these years.
The bodywork is in similarly excellent condition, as the photos show, and the pristine engine bay indicates just how well looked-after this Sceptre has been.
Inside, the recently-refurbished interior is in fabulous condition, making this Ford Consul a very luxurious and comfortable car to ride in, as well as a pleasure to drive.
