1971 MGB Roadster with overdrive in Black, Black roof and Black interior with chrome wire wheels. A superb combination. Previous owner was a true enthusiast who owned for 10 years. In that time approx. 8 years ago a major restoration was under taken . Including bodywork, new paint, new chrome, conversion to unleaded head with all new parts, new carpetS, oil cooler etc etc. Then maintained to a high level. All of which is documented in an extensive history file. The History file also details the car was also fully restored in 1988 with one invoice for 8. 5k alone.
The exterior is in very good condition with no rust issues. Black isn’t the easiest colour to retain its beauty 8 years after being done. But this MG retains its Piano Black deep lustre with only the odd tiny stone chip touched in after all these years. The Hood is very good indeed and there is a half tonneau cover included. There are stainless MG sill plates fitted which compliment the interior when doors are open. The Chrome is in the large part original and in superb order.
The interior is 1st class, having had new quality wool mix tailored carpets and over mats. The addition of a period style Motalita wheel with a polished aluminium boss is very nice. Inertia seat belts have been added. The original seats with headrests are again in 1st class order. The original Jaeger gauges all appear to be working as they should. The boot space is again A1 and is fitted with tailored carpets including the cover for the wire wheel spare.
Mechanically this MG is very good indeed. There is an addition of a new oil cooler. Apart from this it is more or less all original and standard. The engine and engine bay are very clean indeed in line with a well looked after car. The carburettors have had a recent overhaul. On the road the car drives very well and the engine performs and sounds just as it should.
This MG ticks a lot of the boxes and is being sold at a very reasonable price. Getting hard to find nice genuine examples from genuine long term owners. If you want an overpriced show winner then this isn’t for you. If your looking for an overpriced one that needs painting there are quite a few for sale . This represents excellent value for money and is ready to be enjoyed by next enthusiast.
