Description.
From 1998 to 2000, BMW addressed the security concerns of select privateers and public figures via offering a custom preparation of the vehicle to sustain light to moderate ballistic attacks. This Protection Package entailed a series of features including aramid armour plating, underside protection plates, bullet-resistant glass with polycarbonate sheaths and a public announcement system.
This particular E39 540iP was ordered to feature this Protection Package as well as numerous comfort oriented options. In 1998 it was delivered to Munchen’s BMW distributor and thereon collected by its first and sole owner. Since then the car has been under regular maintenance only at factory authorized repair centers and stored indoors. Notably the paint is still in the original factory coat, the interior is in remarkable condition while the engine, transmission, steering and suspension are in excellent order.
