The SL Coupe was produced from 1971 to 1981 and was based on its roadster sibling. Its w114-based chassis was powered by the successful M116 and M117 V8 engines that were used in equally formidable MB series such as w108, w109, w111, w126 as well as in special projects like Sauber and Isdera Imperator. Unlike its predecessor or successor, the SLC was selected to be homologated for the 1978 World Rally Championship via a limited production 450 SLC with 5. 0 M117 engines. Prior model years 1975 and 1976 did suffer from vapor lock and climate control issues.
The SLC offered here was produced in 1974 in Astral Silver over blue leather featuring the European, non-US emissions limited M117 engine. Despite its robust 225 bhp, the SLC was maintained with utmost care for 23 years till it changed hands to a local dealer to be part of his personal collection. In 2015 it was acquired by its current owner, an adamant Mercedes-Benz collector who conducted a full maintenance and stored it in a climate controlled garage. It is now offered with only 118500 km in a remarkably preserved condition with its original engine, panels, glass, chrome, interior leather trim, carpets and peripherals.
