This Land Rover Series 2 rather than 2a has a rather interesting history!
Chassis number the details below was built on 9th June 1961 and dispatched from the factory on 22nd June 1961 to Barretts of Canterbury in Kent.
Somehow it ended up in Cumberland and was registered as 991 ERM which it still wears today.
Up to date V5 Registration document present and correct
Tax and MOT exempt.
The history file dates back to 1992 when a Paul Morgan purchased her.
He sold 991 ERM to Brian Higgs via an auction in Dalston near Carlisle on 25th October 2000 (copy of catalogue on file) and she was wearing the AA livery at that point.
I have no evidence that it was an AA vehicle but it does look rather good!
It was displayed in a museum for a while until a Mr Hadwin bought her in 2014
Last MOTd in 2006.
It really is a very original Land Rover.
It appears to have led an easy life as all the bodywork is very straight and would repaint very easily with no filler.
The original engine starts on the button.
Dated 61 radiator.
Original 3 bolt tailgate
Correct wiper motors and instrument panel.
I have the light lenses for the front and back.
To put it back on the road it needs a new rear quarter chassis, new front dumb irons, front bumper, new footwells and of course all the brakes will need looking at.
It starts runs engages all gears and will drive for loading.
It is difficult to know whether to put it back to the original Bronze Green or keep as is but I will leave that up to you! It would make a great exhibit at Goodwood or other shows.
This is a superb project and the rarer Series 2 which were only made from April 58 until August 61.
