This Mk2 Stag has just arrived with us in part exchange. Finished in the desirable colour combination of white with red upholstery, the car presents nicely but will require some fettling to bring it up to a more drivable standard. We had it fully inspected upon arrival with us, and it is now MOT’d until January 2021; a detailed report of the items still requiring attention is available on request.
Cosmetically, the bodywork and trim are in good overall condition with relatively few imperfections to be found for the age. The black soft-top also presents well, with a clear and damage-free rear window. A small amount of underside welding was required for the MOT, which has now been done, but other items will still need addressing if the car is to be put into regular use.
The History File is complete with an original Stag sales brochure, a raft of paperwork dating back to 1990, and numerous MOT certificates further verifying the car’s low mileage of 82k. The clutch was replaced in 2018 at 81k miles, and we understand that a replacement engine was fitted in the ‘80s at roughly 48k miles; the unit was a re-conditioned Mk2 Triumph V8 as per original and was supplied by marque specialists, Hart Racing Services.
All in all this charming Stag offers a great opportunity for some classic top-down motoring, with four seats and one of the best V8 soundtracks available for the money. An excellent summer project car for the enthusiast.
