Good things come in small packages and this pretty Rover 100 in Ascot trim with just 41, 500 miles is no exception. With just 3 former keepers and Main Dealer history apart from the very last recorded service, these little cars make great starter classics.
Introduced in December 1994, this latest reincarnation of the Austin/ Rover Metro, the R6 or Rover 100 as it was better known, continued with a choice of either 1. 1 or 1. 4 petrol engines and the option of a 1. 5 diesel. Bold paint colours, some chrome and better interiors attempted to liven up what was becoming a dated model and following dismal European crash test in 1997, the model was pulled from production at the beginning of 1998. Today, it has mellowed and it`s quirkiness has found new appeal with an understanding for what it is rather than what it could have been.
Our car was registered in October 1997, making it one of the last examples made. Presented in Nightfire Red with Grey Ascot trim, it was supplied new through Seward of Portsmouth and still sports both original dealer plates and windscreen sticker. Maintained by the same dealer until 2011, the car has covered few miles since with just one additional service in 2015 (less than 1, 000 miles ago). With just a couple of light dings and a few scratches, the Rover presents well and drives just as a low-mileage example should.
The car comes with full Main Dealer Pack including Handbook, Service Book (7 stamps) and a Haynes Manual. A fresh 12-month MOT Certificate will be issued upon sale.
