It was to be the prancing horse of the new millennium and it was going to be tough for Maranello to produce a sequel to the F355 but the Ferrari F360 was lighter, stiffer, more powerful, roomier and of far superior build quality.
Powered by an all-alloy 3. 6 litre DOHC V8 that you could pear at through the glass viewing panel on the rear deck, the F360 produces a whopping 400 horsepower, that’s 111 horsepower per litre and it could be optioned with a 6 speed Sequential Manual Auto-Single Clutch transmission (the same technology used in the Ferrari F1 at the time) or the more desirable and classic 6-Speed chrome Gated Manual transmission.
The F360 Spider was released in the late 2000’s, and don’t think for a second the Nortie’s Ferrari was a simple top-off job of the Coupe.
The F360 Spider was actually engineered as a convertible from the get-go. Built around a high-tech aluminium space frame, which requires little additional re-enforcement, the Spider compromises nothing on handling and rigidity like other convertibles.
As one big high-revving 400 horsepower symphony is being played out just over the driver’s left shoulder, threading the F360 Spider top-down through a long tunnel, full-throttle at 8500-rpm is as close to being Schumacher at Monaco as a mere mortal like you and I will ever get.
