1985 MERCEDES-BENZ 1903 2. 3 16V COSWORTH - UK PRESS CAR
Regretfully up for sale is my uber rare Cosworth 190e. I purchased this car a few months back with the intention of doing a sympathetic restoration to get her looking perfect once again. What makes this car so special is it is the original Mercedes Benz UK press car, which is fully documented, it appeared in numerous magazine articles and was also on long term test with Jeremy Clarkson for 6 months! It come with a large folder full of history along with the aforementioned magazine articles and road tests etc.
Finished in smoke silver metallic, this vehicle came extremely well specified from the factory and has half leather/ houndstooth interior trim, heated seats, sunroof as well as heated seats.
The body of this vehicle is dull and faded in a number of places so I believe it would benefit from having the external trim removed and a glass out professional respray. There is also a crack in the top corner of the passenger side windscreen so this will require replacement , there is also a rust patch on the inside of the bottled at the base of the screen which will need to be cut out and replaced with good metal to ensure the corrosion does not return, there is also some corrosion across the top the slam panel above the numberplate which would be a very simple fix and a patch will be required on the inside of the drivers side rear wheel arch.
It has a current MOT until June next year but I would suggest giving the car a full recommission service as it has been in dry storage for the last few years.
The interior is in largely very good condition overall but there is some light scuffing on the leather which would benefit from reconnolisation and the drivers seat would require a small piece of replacement cloth.
I hope this paints an honest appraisal of the car. I would love to keep it but simply have too many cars currently. This will make a great winter project for someone and a very interesting car with a great history.
Any further questions please ask.
Export enquiries welcome
