With the launch of the CZ100 in 1960, Honda created the class of machine known as 'monkey bikes', so called because of their diminutive stature. A scaled-up and more practical 72cc version, the ST70 Dax, with spine-type frame and larger wheels, was introduced in 1969. Three years later another 'enlarged monkey' was added to the range in the form of the Chaly. Available in 50cc and 72cc versions, the Chaly featured an open frame and small leg shields that partially enclosed the engine, giving it a somewhat scooter-like appearance.
