Description
Here is a truly unique Riley special.
Based on a modified 1953 Riley RMF chassis, the body is a one-off, 2 seater aluminium / wood construction.
I wanted the car to have a certain amount of patina, so used old, period correct parts where possible, such as seats, fold flat "Auster" windscreen and period headlights.
To make the car really stand out from the usual Riley Specials, I decided to fit a 4. 8 Litre Lincoln Zephyr V12 engine with Riley 4 speed gearbox and Riley axle. Steering is rack and pinion.
The inspiration for the car was the prewar Allard V12 special of which only two were ever built. The most well known one was featured on the front cover of Motor Sport in April 1944.
Engine spec; fully reconditioned with high pressure oil pump, new valve gear, hydraulic lifters, reground crank, new pistons / rebore, new starter motor, new water pumps, new clutch, new carb, reconitioned distributor, new fuel pump, electric fan, high performance ignition coils.
