Beschreibung

A lovely DB5 that is numbers matching and finished in its original colour, Caribbean Pearl which really accentuates the evocative lines, with the dark blue leather complementing this shade perfectly. The car was supplied when new by Aston dealer Plough Motors to Rob Walker, a serial buyer of the finest cars in the Sixties and Seventies, heir to the Johnnie Walker whisky fortune and most significantly the founder of the most successful Formula 1 privateer team in history which included the first F1 wins for Lotus and Cooper. The car was delivered to Rob Walker at his Corsley Garage site in Wiltshire in May 1964 following registration with the number 877 EAM retained by the car to date.

The factory build sheet indicates the second owner to be Lt Col Raymond Johnson- Ferguson of Eaglesfield Dumfries, the DB5 joining his private collection which included an Aston Martin Ulster.

The third registered owner, a Mr Gordon Willey purchased the Aston in October 1963 to join his notable collection of historic cars. He and his wife retained the Aston until 2015 at which point his fine collection including the Aston were offered for sale at auction.

The last owner purchased the Aston from this sale and immediately despatched it to the highly regarded Aston expert, Desmond Smail, in Olney, for a full evaluation. Evidently Desmond’s first words were “do not restore this car”. Upon viewing the car, it is easy to understand this sentiment for this DB5 has a lovely original feel about it including the original leather interior which is beautifully worn in. This patina can only be achieved by careful use over many years giving the car a unique character and usability that can never be recreated.

Desmond Smail Ltd completed all works recommended following inspection as detailed in numerous invoices on file. He has continued to maintain the Aston as required, again detailed on file. The last owner has enjoyed the Aston in fine weather and has stored it in fine conditions.

A special DB5 in a great colour scheme that is ready to be enjoyed and conserved by its next owner. The rich interior aroma of original leather is worth the purchase price alone!
