History of this car
This SM, chassis 00SB1919 is an Italian delivery car (although unusually it has the French market number plate light) that was imported into the UK in 1982 (hence the Y registration, the DVLA applying the year of import to the registration suffix in period).
Our car is the desirable carburettor model with a leather interior and is presented in the original delivery gold colour.
With one owner 1983-2020 and a believed genuine 45000 klms this SM has been driveway parked for some years and today requires body repairs and repainting plus the usual recommissioning.
Body
As you can see there is corrosion on every panel, although the paint that is on it could be the original finish as it is uniformly thin, and body panels all have the correct shape and contours.
Importantly, the chassis appears rust and accident free.
All glass is in excellent condition, and ditto the stainless trim.
Mechanics
This is the 2. 7litre carburettor model. We have turned the engine to ascertain that it isn’t seized, but haven’t attempted to start it. A full recommissioning is required.
Two front tyres are new.
Interior
This is a stand out feature of the car as it is a leather cabin in excellent undamaged condition, benefitting from the rare factory fit flush Autovox radio and supplementary cassette deck..
Boot
Good clean condition, no rot in any of the usual places.
Summary
An exciting SM project, great colour and specification, low mileage and ownership, supplied with old style V5.
