This MG TD, first registered on 15th May 1953, is just out of long-term storage and would seem to have had only four owners from new. It is a very original right-hand drive car, which appears to be very solid indeed - we have even inspected the ash frame under a couple of trim panels. The underside of the car all seems good and sound, it starts easily and runs well. You could either carry out a light restoration of the car, or give it a thorough recommissioning and get it back on the road as a lovely old oily rag. The brakes need overhauling, the paintwork is not good, but the hood, side screens and interior trim are all saveable. The chrome work is quite good and the engine (which is the original) and running gear appear fine. It looks to be absolutely complete apart from a couple of nuts and bolts here and there. The car will need to be re-registered with the DVLA, but we have a continuation log book from 1966 and the DVLA tell us that the original number has not been re-allocated and there is a good chance that it could be reinstated. Re-registration should be straightforward, but it may be best to enlist the help of the Octagon Car Club. Priced to sell, so proper, serious enquiries only please.
