Lagonda LG45 DHC 1937
The ambition of Lagonda boss Alan P. Good was sky high in 1935 when he declared to his Technical Director W. O. Bentley: “We are going to build the best car in the world and have just 2 years to do it in.”
The report of the new Lagonda LG45 road test by “The AutoCar” magazine in April 1937 is very flattery: “impressive in appearance”… “a fine machine that gives high performance without effort”… “well made and solid”… “in short: it is a thoroughbred”.
The talented in-house designer Frank Feeley produced 3 different types of splendid bodies on the LG45 chassis. A Saloon, a Tourer and a Drophead Coupé, which continued to improve the image of the Lagonda marque.
The mix of the talented people mentioned above and the development of the mighty Meadows 4, 5 litre 6-cilinder engine coupled to the excellent G10 gearbox resulted in what “The Autocar” rightly quoted: A Thoroughbred.
This Lagonda LG45 DHC with chassis number 12153 has been totally restored approx. 10 years ago by the Belgian Lagonda specialist LMB for a German customer.
In 2015 the Lagonda was bought by a Belgian enthusiast who, for the long distance rallies he participated at, wanted a performant and comfortable open motorcar.
This Lagonda was just perfect, until a couple of vintage Bentleys took over much of the attention of her owner.
This fully sorted and perfectly maintained beauty is now again available for a fresh guardian who will immediately be able to enjoy all the pleasures this thoroughbred offers.
