This is my 1988 CX Croisette which I've owned for 17 years where I've done less than 20000 miles during that time. He has always been MOTd each and every year and always garaged when not used. Serviced by me every year, so really under used and over serviced is how i would describe it. Used more often in the first half of my ownership than in recent years. I like the access you have online to check out the history of cars, so go online and check it out. Over the last few years, he has really only been used twice a year for holiday duties which did involve some caravan work so he is only ever taxed from April through to Sep, then SORNd and stored in my man cave with my other Citroens. I had him valued by Stan Platt from the Citroen Car Club at £4500 in the early 2019 and then later that year, a polish lorry driver did some minor damage to the near side which gave me the opportunity to have further work done, so all four sides of him have now been resprayed after near side replacement doors where sourced from Stan, so he now looks better than ever. When I first got him I replaced the interior, but before fitting I removed all the seat covers from the frames and the carpets and cleaned them thoroughly in the bath. From day one of my ownership I got him on my ramp and cleaned him thoroughly underneath, then after treating all the surface areas with rust prevention before covering with oil each and every year since (the old fashioned way) He is a very clean and solid usable classic that has no rust. Any work completed and parts removed over the years have been cleaned before refitting using copper ease on moving parts any threads
A really clean 32 year old car which i can jump into and drive with confidence anywhere. I'm only selling as he will really not get used much at all and that would be a shame. We have purchased a motorhome and after taking early retirement, much of our time will be spent holidaying. I've decided the money will finance the beating heart of my 2CV from its 602cc to a 720cc, courtesy of Pete Sparrow. Why not!!
Is it all rosey, well more a less. But there are a couple of points which I feel i should mention but do not give me any trouble at all. You will get the odd drip from the sump gasket, but only minor and would be done if the clutch needed replacing (no signs of that though). Syncro in second gear can be a little lazy, especially when cold. The digital clock display has just started to play up, as they do. I have another so I was planning to make a good one out of the two, or get somebody to look at it. The head lining was hanging down when I bought him, so I took it out and separated the fabric from the board. Cleaned all the loose foam off then painted the board black. Been meaning to add replacement fabric for years, but it looks fine to me as it is. The bumpers have a couple of marks on, but they are bumpers after all. And last of all, there hasn't been any Croisette pinstriping along the sides in my ownership. That's about it, I can't think of anything else. The only reason there is no MOT currently is due to COVID and the 6 month MOT extension which took it to October, by which time he was laid up for winter. A new MOT will be provided before sale. A few mechanical and trim spares come with the car including his original grey interior seats and another set of alloy wheels with tyres.
PS, text my mobile, do not ring as i do not answer unknown numbers. Or email me for further details.
£5000 which i think is a fair price or make me an offer.
Update - just remembered, I fitted a temperature gauge to the right of the steering wheel as I wanted to see what was happening while towing. Also it doesn't have A/ C I fitted the centre console A/ C switch is so I can manually switch the second cooling fan on if I felt he was getting warm. Mmm yes, I fitted a second cooling fan as well from another CX. :-)
