TVR V8S is running driving project.
The car has been in a family’s ownership since 2000 and is sadly for sale due a passing.
The car has covered very few miles in the last 14 years. From the records a new clock was fitted, (now showing 2200 miles and history back to 2004 with MOT’s) show there is a gap of 4 years, 2000-2004. Milage in 2000 was 54, 000. On this basis we cannot verify true miles.
In March 2020 the car was partially recommissioned at a cost of nearly £6k. The works s included tyres, 12k service, brakes, callipers, new clutch master, slave, service and given an MOT.
We have described the car as “project” as it ideally needs some more TVR love to get it back to 100%.
The paint appears to have been resprayed to a high standard in the past and just has a few storage related marks. The interior is very good for its age with no rips to seats or trim and the carpets may well have been replaced previously. The dash does need to be veneered or changed.
The chassis, with some small areas flaking, is well painted and solid. Overall, the car is extremely presentable.
Our mechanical inspection highlighted several areas that need investigation and possible works resulting in the term “project”.
Gear selection/ clutch issue – May just need bleeding or new clutch.
Lack of power, ticking and low engine knock– engine – suspect cam wear.
OS mirror loose – glued up needs repair.
Suspension bushes poor and cracking front top.
Rear numberplate delaminating.
Sump gasket leaking.
OSF top ball joint dust cover failed – need changing to pass MOT.
Gear selector bushes missing.
Gearbox touching exhaust.
Brake servo poor and rusting.
Fuel pump close to failure rusting terminals.
All shock bushes poor.
Rear lower shock bolts loose.
HL reflectors poor.
NS repeater inop.
Rear fog not working.
No Horn.
The car was driven over 100 miles to Amore without any issues or overheating so makes a great candidate for someone wanting to get into a rare V8S. It’s a great opportunity for someone with basic mechanical skills.
The car will be advertised for a short period and if not sold as a project, will be completed by Amore and the car readvertised.
