Description
NOT too many years ago, rubber bumpered MGB Roadsters seemed to be all over the classic car listings. Not so now. I believe that so many people find them eminently enjoyable and for so much less money than a corresponding condition model pre-1975 and therefore with chrome bumpers.
Look around for yourself - on this very site for starters - they do not change hands anything like they used to as owners have grown to love them and appreciate their driving capabilities.
This mega pretty example makes a pleasant change in as much as it is not red, russet brown or blue. And indeed the Harvest Gold suits it sporting lines really well in my opinion!
She offers excellent panels and paintwork and is a joy to drive. Fitted with a rebuilt engine just 3, 000 miles ago, she drives like a true Brit sports car with instant overdrive on 3rd and 4th. You will also note that because she is a very early rubber bumper model, she had not yet received the full changeover treatment and therefore her dashboard bears much more resemblance to chrome bumper MGBs. Very soon after this one was built, the whole dash was altered and in came the "Deckchair seats" at the same time. Her overdrive stalk is on the left hand side of the steering column. Again, this is just pre the design which saw the switch move the gear knob.
Even her hood is basically as good as new and is an up market version, costing £400 from Moss a couple of years ago.
All in all, a delightful example in an unusual colour for a B Roadster.
