A 1979/ 80 3. 0 911 SC was sourced by Dave Broughton at 911 Classic, Sussex who restored it, between 2010 and 2011 rebuilding the body and trim to replicate a '73 RS Lightweight with a ½ cage. The original engine was fully rebuilt as was the gearbox and then delivered to the current owner with the intention of road use and the odd hillclimb and sprint . The engine was “run in” but the injection was never satisfactory . After searching for a pair of triple choke IDA Webers, an "Autofarm" tuned 3. 0 (ish) engine with Webers already fitted was chanced upon . A transplant took place and at the same time an LSD and competition clutch were installed. The engine was “rolling road” tuned by Ricky Gauld with a print out indicating 223bhp.
The car then went on to win the overall Highland Speed Championship and its class in the 2012 Scottish Sprint Championship. It's only done one event since (where it won its class) due to a move to single seaters.
It's fully road legal (can supply with full MOT), but has done a pitiful amount of road miles in the last 6 years. Always garaged, sealed away in a "Carcoon".
Oddometer shows about 1200 miles as it was zeroed on restoration though 900 of these were on the road - running in the original engine. Unfortunately, we don't have any history with the car - none was supplied when the conversion took place and the minimal servicing that its needed has been done by us, local garage or mechanic friend. I know I have at least changed the rubber brake hoses for braided all round, and from memory, both rear calipers were replaced in the past couple of years (less than a few hundred miles).
Offers very close to asking price will include; a spare set of (almost matching) Compomotive fuch alloys with unused Khumo tyres, the original "matching numbers" engine and the period plate presently fitted.
