Here is an opportunity to purchase what is probably the most original Thames 400E camper available at present time.
This vehilce was found in a barn near my home 2 years ago. This camper has never seen a welder or needs too. This is probably because the previous owners had the underside and chassis treated with a regular brushing of old engine oil.
The paint is original to the camper however there are battle scars here and there. These areas have been treated and clear laquered. The whole camper was cut and polished by hand to its present condition. Interior was stripped out and cupboards repaired as necessary. The entire carpet was stripped out and glue residue was removed. Curtains were removed cleaned and reinstalled. New removable carpets installed. Roof opens correctly and material is in excellent condition. Upper bunks are in an excellent condition and functions correctly.
Not negotiable at the time of purchase was the original Registration Number. As part of the deal this had to be transferred back to the original owner.
Camper is now fitted with age related plate after being MOT'd (expires Sep 21) and DVLA inspected.
This camper has never been restored, list of other work carried out below:
Mechanical Works:
- Brakes - all shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder and resevooir and servo (believed to be dealer fitted) - replaced
- Clutch master and slave cylinder - replaced
- Wheel bearings and oil seals - replaced
- Radiator re-cored and all hoses - replaced
- Fuel tank cleaned, flushed and repainted
- Engine has been flushed through and new water pump and fuel pump installed
- Coil and all service parts - replaced
- Diff, gearbox and steering box oil was drained and replaced
- Full stainless steel exhaust system including manifold
- Under tray, grille, bumpers and wheels blasted and powder coated
- Original front seats were not in camper. 2No. Ford KA leather seats provided.
- New windscreen rubber fitted
- Improvements to original spec include dynomater/ alternator, two speed electric wipers and electric screen wash.
