Quite possibly the rarest car we shall ever have the pleasure of offering. This is a full house AMG converted 140 coupé with the 7. 0-litre V12 engine. UK-supplied, right-hand drive.
We understand the car was originally built for the Sultan of Brunei for his Berkshire residence and supplied by Greenoaks of Madenhead. It is reputed to be one of two but we have never heard of the other.
Unlike the R129 SL60 AMG, the CL70 AMG (as Mercedes refers to them) were never available as an ‘off the peg’ model. They were all bespoke commissions and ferociously expensive. It is a quirk that this particular car has always been badged and registered as a CL700.
Built in 1998, the car was finished in Designo LCP paintwork, which is a flip colour alternating between dark blue and green depending on the light. The interior is also Designo black leather with green inner panels and Bird’s Eye Maple wood.
AMG equipped the car with the 7. 0-litre AMG V12 engine, AMG exhaust, AMG suspension, AMG brakes, plus of course the AMG bodystyling and 19in AMG alloy wheels. When entering the car’s chassis number into the Mercedes parts system it confirms the AMG modifications.
Very high specification as expected including xenon lights, Parktronic, rear blind, glass sunroof, heated/ memory seats and more.
We have looked after this car for the last two years so know it well and carried out a complete top end engine rebuild, replacement brakes, front suspension and refurbished wheels.
All books/ manuals come with the car, HPI clear and comes with a folder of paperwork. Three former keepers. 63k miles in total.
In excellent condition throughout and drives correctly.
While any V12 140 coupé modified by AMG is a rare car, one what has the full scope of AMG modifications including the 7. 0 engine is exceptionally rare. This car being right-hand drive makes it something of a unicorn.
