MG TD 1250 1951. Same owner for the last 50 years.
For Sale this 1951 MG TD. Current owner for the last 50 years . Purchased as everyday transport in 1971. The car had already received some structural bodywork and trim work by this time. The advent of children in the early 1980's placed the car in dry storage for the next 30 years.
The car was bought to me in 2011 for recommissioning back into service.
The car had been stored very well in a dry garage of its wheels with good airflow around the vehicle.
The car was dismantled and the 1970's internal trim saved for future re-use. All the main body panels were sent for chemical stripping at Pro-Strip in Nottingham. All the panels were in excellent condition and alongwith the body tub and doors refinished in MG Chariot red to a very high standard incuding the wing undersides.
The main mechanical attention centred on a full engine rebuild. Unleaded head, rebore, crank grind, new camshaft balancing with new clutch etc. The carbs and ancillaries were all overhauled. Brakes were all rebuilt along with new wiring loom and fuel pump.
New weather equipment was carried out onto refinished hood and sidescreen frames.
The car returned to a more pedestrian lifestyle for its 60th Birthday and has received limited intrmittent use since.
A full service and overhaull including new cooling hoses and fuel pipes, brake overhaul and engine refresh bring the car back ready for regular use.
Benefitting from a refurbished body and rebuilt engine and having covered less than three thousand miles this makes for a highly desirable car ready for any additional detailing
