The Twin Cam model was the first racing version of the Escort
It was introduced already in the model's first year 1968
It had the same Lotus engine as the Lotus Cortina and took over its role as Ford's race car
The car was primarily used in rallies where it dominated the seasons from 1968 to 1970
It was also used in standard car racing before being replaced by the Capri RS
1263 copies of the model were built
