We are delighted to once again offer for sale an old friend.
This 1984 Volvo 244 DL 2. 1 Auto was supplied by ourselves to its current registered keeper in the summer of 2017. If you look through my sold items on here you will see its original advert.
It has had just four previous keepers in its near 38 year life and it is my understanding that it has always been local to the South Manchester/ Cheshire region. It still wears its original 'Dean Smith Garages' number plates. It has now covered 74600 miles. We previously supplied it on 69300 miles. Due to lack of use it is now for sale again.
In 2017 we fitted 4 new tyres and a cambelt kit using parts supplied by our local main dealer. There is not much service history with this car but it really does speak for itself with an almost perfect interior (there are a couple of dashboard cracks an a non original covering has replaced the original parcel shelf cover material) and most importantly, very straight and solid bodywork with original panels and glass. There does not seem to have been any welding carried out on this car and the underside is really solid. There are a couple of slight surface rust spots that would now benefit from being 'nipped in the bud' but nothing major. The current MOT is until July 2022.
The specification is basic but includes essentials such as Power Steering, Rear Seatbelts (factory fitted), Central Locking and a manual choke, not an ECU anywhere to be seen! It retains its original Volvo push button radio, rear mud flaps, and glovebox lid vanity mirror. The transmission is a very smooth 3 speed automatic. Front & Rear dashcams have been added in the last four years.
The Beige 'n' Brown colour/ trim combination looks pleasingly early 80's and very retro, I remember how much admiration it got when I had it four years ago.
NB: I previously mentioned that this car had been subject to an insurance claim 30 years ago (1991) due to an attempted theft. It was showing as having been 'written off' at the time if an Experian car data check was carried out, yet was clear when checked by Motorcheck. I asked Motorcheck to investigate this for me and it turns out that Experian had listed it as written off when it should not have been. Experian have amended their records and this car can now be regarded as clear.
Overall this is a great 244 that would make a relaxing daily driver. With a little bit more TLC I firmly believe it could be a show winner.
