For Sale: My rare 1990 (H reg) Silver Volvo 240 GLT Automatic.
History: I have owned this car since 2022/ 23. The car was stored in a garage and unused up until April 2026. I then lost the storage space, so I decided to get it MOT'd and rectify any issues I noticed along the way.
Works Completed:
I initially took it to a body shop to have the rust issues sorted on the rear arches (common issue). It had a new panel on one side, and the other side was repaired as it wasn't too bad. I had the passenger wing and bonnet painted at the same time as it had lacquer peel. Works costing £1, 500 on just that bodywork. But, as it is one of the last GLT's, I thought it was worth it.
Once the body work was rectified, I then focused on the mechanical side.
Mechanical Works Completed:
Full service
Cambelt replaced
Rocker cover gasket replaced
Instrument cluster cogs (common issue, you may have noticed the same mileage on previous MOTs)
Tailgate wiring (both sides)
Steering joints
I have probably forgotten a few bits, but I will amend the ad as I remember them!
If I was keeping the car, the only work I would do is the drivers door interior handle - just needs the clip on the inside. There is also a right trim missing on the rear bumper.
To summarise: a truly amazing car, and a great example for a Volvo enthusiast to add to their collection. As you can see from the photos, it looks amazing, and, personally, I am gutted to see it go.
I previously advertised on here, but unfortunately, I had a lot of people who weren't genuine and complete timewasters. I even had a prospective buyer contact me all the way from Ireland - we agreed on the price, sent lots of pictures, and had a long conversation on the phone. He changed his mind at the last second. Very disappointing. As a result of this, please note I will not respond to any "is this still available messages." I will also not agree on any prices until you are actually here with me in person, viewing the car.
A holding deposit will have to be paid in advance so that I know the enquiry is of genuine interest.
