This 1969 Morgan 4/ 4 offers a rare opportunity to buy a fully restored car which has been driven zero miles since it was completed this year. During recent years, it has been subject to a full ‘nut-and-bolt’ overhaul by an ex BMC/ Leyland Motorsport engineer, leaving no expense spared in his quest to bring this exciting sports car back to its original condition.
The car was stripped down to a bare chassis and rebuilt from the ground up beginning in 2016 and was completed in 2021. The huge history file which accompanies the car details the extent of the work completed, including receipts, MoTs and handwritten correspondence with previous owners.
In summary, the work included:
-Chassis inspected and painted
-Sills replaced
-Front & rear suspension overhauled including new front shock absorbers
-Front and rear brakes overhauled including new lines and seals
-Roll hoop fitted under bulkhead
-Full body respray in British Racing Green
-New wiring loom
-New door timbers and steel skins (i. e. whole new doors)
-All interior leather trim replaced
-Dashboard professionally re-varnished and gauges restored
-Engine:
-Cylinders bored to +60
-Crankshaft bearings reground
-Water jackets cleaned
-New Pistons and rings
-New bearings
-Kent std camshaft
-New oil pump
-Reconditioned cylinder head with hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel
-New timing chain and tensioner
-New Clutch
-Carburettor overhaul inc. ultrasonic cleaning and correct jets
Much more work was carried out alongside the above, too much to list, but comprehensive notes and receipts are contained in the car’s history file.
This car really is a testament to the owner’s attention to detail and fastidious devotion to doing jobs properly. Sadly the car is now being offered for sale by his estate.
