This Morgan Plus 8 (4. 8 BMW V8) is a rare manual, Aero-chassis example with only one owner up until we purchased the car in summer 2025. Having both worked for Morgan Motor Company and playing a large part in the specifications of the final Plus 8 models, we have subjected the car to a number of ‘GTR’ upgrades. Our car has just ticked over 19, 000 miles and has been serviced at Morgan specialist ‘Lifes Motors’ every year (12 stamps total), regardless of mileage. The car will come with a fresh service for the new owner.
Our Plus 8 was delivered new by SGT Maidenhead on 1st June 2013, specified in Sport Black with a Mulberry leather interior and matching Maroon ’20-second’ Hood and Side Screens. Other options include the all-important Air-Conditioning, Luggage Rack with Side Screen Stowage (not currently fitted, but will come with the car), Red Carpets, Matching Hood Cover, Matching Side Screen Bag, Black Contrasting Interior Stitching, Dual Airbags, AM/ FM Radio, Chrome Rear View Mirror, Leather Door Pockets, Lockable Stowage Box, Morgan Logo Embroidered Headrests, Leather Sun Visors, Footwell Lights, and Running Board Strips.
Today, the car presents very well indeed and has been looked after impeccably well as indicated by the service history. We have upgraded our Plus 8 with a a set of new GTR wheels, a pair of (now discontinued) Cibie LED spotlights, GTR exhaust rear sections, LED headlights with ‘black-out’ DLRs to bring it up to date with the last of the Plus 8s. We have also removed the luggage rack, but it will come with the car alongside the hood cover and sidescreen bag. The Sport Black paint is very good and looks to be mostly original with only some touched-in stone chips on the front facing surfaces, unfortunately the running board strips have cause some spidering under the paint in a few places but this is the only defect we can spot on the bodywork as there are no dents or scratches. The Maroon mohair hood is in perfect condition with no wear or discolouration, as is the rear window which is completely free of any creases or deep scratches. The side-screens and accompanying mohair accessories are also in excellent order. The interior is also in excellent, original condition, the Mulberry leather has never been re-connolised and is still vibrant and clean with no major creases and no holes/ scratches. There is a very small amount of wear on the piping edge on the driver’s side bolster as expected for the age. The dashboard is free of any scratches and the gauges, buttons and controls are all like new. Although there are a number of more attractive aftermarket options available, we’ve chosen to leave original DB7 steering wheel on the car, as changing it would mean deleting the airbag and a large compromise in safety.
Everything on the car works as it should, including the air-conditioning, and it drives perfectly. The sound is crisper through the GTR tips when compared to the standard items, and it’s a joy to play with the noise of the V8 as you row through the gears, something that’s so disappointing with the automatic variants.
