The Car Barn are excited to present this rare Lotus Europa Special for sale.
One of 84 Examples left in the UK. This car is finished in Porsche Guards Red with Oatmeal interior.
Supplied new in 1973 and was sold by Northern Sports Cars in Richmond Yorkshire.
The stated power output of the Big Valve / Dellorto motors is 125-126 bhp at 6500 rpm, with maximum torque of 113 lb ft at 5500 rpm.
After a few different owners in 1984 the owner changed and this is where the invoicing details begin. He replaced the chassis, repainted the car Porsche Guards Red and had engine balancing, rebuild and suspension work done between July 1984 and June 1985. New radius arms were fitted in September 1987 and the brake servo was renewed in
April 2000. Christopher Neil Sports Cars, Northwich did much of the work, In 1998 He obtained a Certificate of Authenticity for the car from Lotus Cars Ltd.
Since then there have a been a few more owners and lots of receipts for more work done.
This brings us up to the present day, where the car is presented in it's current condition. The car mechanically is very sound however the paintwork is now showing it's age and plenty of patina. The new owner my wish to either wish to leave it as it is, or re-spray the car.

'The Europa is one of the great Lotus's, a predecessor to the Elise. Lightweight and fun to drive. The engines evolved over the years from the slow early Renault units, though to the twin cam and eventually the Big Valve twin-cam which is what we have in our car. A mint example of the Europa 'Special' would fetch over £40, 000, thus this car allows you plenty of scope to make it perfect within the price, or just leave it as it is and drive it like it's meant to be driven!'
